Popular decorations for wedding favors are ribbons and bows, but there is a world of choice out there when it comes to choosing the type of ribbon, the width and the finish. The choice is so wide ranging that for many brides it can seem a hopeless task to find the right one.

If you are planning to use ribbons and bows on your wedding favors then here is a quick guide as to the types of ribbon you will find at most craft stores.

Satin faced/double satin – this is the most common type of ribbon and probably the most familiar to you. Satin faced has one shiny side and one matt side, whilst double satin has two shiny sides. It is available in a wide range of colors and widths.

Grosgrain – more expensive than satin ribbon as it has a woven texture to it. It is popular with those who don’t want the shiny finish of satin ribbon and it adds a stylish touch without being overly formal. It is available in a nice range of colors but not as many widths as satin ribbon.

Velvet – this is lovely for winter wedding favors or those with a festive flavor. It has a nice pile finish to one side and flat on the other. Narrow velvet ribbon in pastel shades is nice for spring or summer favors. You will find a greater range of colors in the narrow widths, whilst wider widths tend to be primary colors such as red, green and blue.

Medical authorities estimate that aspartame has brought more complaints to the FDA than any other additive. It’s been responsible for as many as 75% of such complaints to that agency. And, after receiving approximately 10,000 consumer complaints, the FDA compiled a list of 92 symptoms linked to aspartame, which include death. Aspartame attacks your body at the cellular level so it can negate all kinds of medications Americans take, including antidepressants, Coumadin, cardiac drugs, hormones, insulin, vaccines, and many others.

Roberts, concluded that aspartame caused our obesity epidemic. He gives evidence that this sweetener secretly makes you crave carbohydrates which, make you gain weight. It may trigger or over stimulate the stomach’s production of ghrelin, also known as the “hunger hormone.” If this hypothesis turns out to be right, it will help to explain why “diet” sodas haven’t been too helpful in weight reduction. There are a lot more options available now for treating malignant tumors than were available a few years ago. And more and more women are breast cancer survivors today.

But you would like to know what your particular risks are for developing breast cancer, wouldn’t you? Although no one knows exactly who is going to get breast cancer, there are risk factors that can be taken into consideration. There are often no symptoms in the early stages. Women should be aware of the screening recommendations and follow them. There are varieties of symptoms that may appear as the tumor grows such as:

- The breast changing in size or shape

- Breast skin becomes pitted or ridged

- Thickening or lump in the underarm or breast

- Discharge from nipple or the nipple turns inward

- Skin on the breast becomes red or scales

If you have any of these symptoms, have yourself examined by a medical professional. This does not mean you have cancer but you defiantly want to have this checked.

Before the age of twenty, is very rare to get it and not often diagnosed in women less than twenty-five years old. The chances of contacting climbs steadily after 25 and peaks around menopause age in women. It increases less after menopause but as they age, the risk to older women gradually increases.

The first image that generally comes to mind when picturing a wedding dress is a white gown, but color can be used to great effect in wedding dress design.  This does not mean that the dress has to be a solid color either – a white wedding dress can be accented with color in several different ways in order to create a beautiful wedding gown that no one will forget.  To add an additional color, bridesmaid dresses can be coordinated with the accents so that there is a common theme throughout the entire wedding party. Colored Ribbons

One easy way that color accents can be added to a wedding dress is through the addition of colored ribbons.  Depending on the style of the dress these ribbons can be added in several different ways.  Colored ribbons can be used as lacing in dresses that feature a corset-like lacing up the front or back of the gown, or along the edges of the different pieces that make up a more elaborate dress.  Some dress designers choose to use colored ribbons to trim the edge of a veil or train, providing just a dash of color to a beautiful traditional gown.  Others may incorporate colored ribbons into the dress design itself, creating multiple splashes of color in woven ribbon designs.

Colored Sashes

Much like colored ribbons, colored sashes can be used to add a striking color accent to otherwise basic wedding dresses.  The most common way in which colored sashes are used is by securing the sash around the bride’s waist like a belt, though other uses of a colorful sash as part of the wedding dress design are not unheard of.  Many wedding dress designers who choose to use colored sashes combine them with matching ribbon accents to help complete a larger color theme within the wedding dress.

Practice Prolonged Breastfeeding - it can sound old fashion, but studies have showed that prolonged breastfeeding reduces considerably the risk of developing breast cancer. Breastfeeding provides many benefits in the physical and mental development of the infant. By breastfeeding you increase the chance of your infant to be healthy, and decrease your risk of developing breast cancer. It’s not archaic to breastfeed; if times have changed, the causes leading to breast cancer remain the same, reduce your risk of breast cancer by breastfeeding your child.

The Ribbon

A little after it’s Microsoft Office cousins, Project finally gets the ribbon (which Microsoft call the fluent user interface).

For those who aren’t familiar with the concept of the ribbon, this makes it easier to find commands (although it takes a lot of getting used to).  The ribbon replaces the menu and toolbar with a single strip of icons across the top of the screen, divided by task into tabs.

The Jacquard Ribbon dates all the way back to the early 1800′s. This was during the Industrial Revolution when factories just started to arise. Before mechanical devices and weaving machines were invented, fabric was woven by hand which was a timely task. The new machines produced this fabric at an exceptionally faster rate, but it was only able to produce simple patterns, not the detailed ones that skilled workers could create.

Soon enough, the Jacquard Loom was created to solve this problem, which was an attachment to a loom, and it allowed the machine to create very intricate designs just as fast as any other simple pattern or design. Many people lost their jobs because the Jaquard ribbon no longer needed to be manually produced. The process is quite complicated, it can be compared to that of a pasteboard card.

Each hole has a different action, so basically, one could alter the loom’s actions to create whatever design they were trying to produce. Not only did this spark the development of intricate designs in ribbon, it spread to many other industries. The idea of the pasteboard card, or punch card concept, many other developers followed it and were able to successfully put it to use.
